Across Horizons: Expanding Literacy Access to Africa
It all begins with an idea.
In July of 2025, Horizon Bookshelf proudly donated over 200 carefully selected books to Pearland Academy in Enugu, Nigeria. Currently, Nigeria has a literacy rate of 60%, which is a significant 26.3% below the global average of 86.3%. Through our donation of age-appropriate novels, educational workbooks covering various subjects, and storybooks that highlight diverse perspectives and voices, we aim to support and inspire young readers. We are wholeheartedly committed to our mission of bridging the literacy gap in Black and underrepresented communities, both in San Antonio and across the globe!
